Chicago River Day 2016
Water Quality is an ever increasing issue globally and in the Chicago region. Growing urban lifestyles river-walk, water taxi and transit, kayaking, and Canoe, Kayak and Swim events planned, the Chicago River is coming back to life. With recent infrastructure and MWRD improvements, City and private investment has made these opportunities a reality.
Chicago River Day, the flagship river clean-up event of Friends of Chicago River, on Saturday, May 14, 2016 brings important attention to the greatly improved and improving water quality of the Chicago River System.
This annual metro-wide volunteer day spans the river’s 156-mile system.
Volunteers work along the river banks and help to remove tons of litter and sort out recyclables, but can also support construction of river trails, remove invasive vegetation, and plant native plants.
Over 60 locations to choose from, we are excited to see you out along the river this spring for Chicago River Day!
