Small businesses make up the bulk of companies in the US by number and number of employees. But, many small business owners do not have access to energy efficiency products and services. Competence, time and resources to know what’s available or how it can help them remain challenging.

Utilities are often seen as a solution to this economic segment, but with this avenue of support comes challenges of non-neutral services and supply pressures. On the other hand the utility usually provides access to educational services, audits, and funding options in the absence of others as an effective means of efficiency procurement. What remains unknown often however is the efficacy of the outcome.

To identify independent resources takes concentrated effort to research, select programs and identify those that fit there needs.

Small businesses are missing out on programs they don’t even know exist. So where should they turn? More on this in the days to come.
